Madge
Madge is the spunkiest, most adorable little poodle lady. She is about 9 years old, just under 10lbs, and is the sweetest little sidekick.
Madge is a lovely dog with low energy level. Just a few walks a day are all she needs. She does not play with toys yet but is coming out of her shell more every day. She is unafraid of people and seeks attention and affection. She loves to be held and cuddled.
She has been great around other dogs - big and small. She is in a foster home with two small male dogs and does great with them. She has also been around larger dogs and is friendly, curious, and lots of tail wags. She is a very go with the flow pup. She loves to cuddle the two male dogs in her foster home.
Madge has not been exposed to kids or cats. We believe she would be fine with kids who know how to be gentle with a small, older dog.
She is housebroken and does seem to understand a few basic commands(sit, stay, come), and will always follow through with them when treats are involved! She is extremely food motivated.
Madge is fed and sleeps in her crate. She does very well with both. She knows meals are in the crate and runs to get in. She is less enthusiastic about sleeping in the crate, but does so without issue. When her humans leave the house, she does okay in the crate, but she is also completely fine free roam. She has not shown any destructive tendencies.
She has not shown separation anxiety or any fears of loud noises like thunderstorms.
Madge is learning to walk on leash. She does prefer the princess life so will ask to be carried every now and again on the walk for a quick break.
She is fantastic in the car - she has a car seat that she is buckled into and she settles right in. She hasn't shown any nervousness or anxiety.
Madge is a very easy dog and could be great as a solo dog or with a dog friend. A home where she will get the affection and attention she wants/needs feels very important for her confidence and happiness. She loves to cuddle and hangout on the couch. She loves being carried around in a sling but is equally happy to curl up in bed and hangout.
She is an older little lady so she does need to be handled gently with her arthritis and slightly compressed disc but she isn’t frail. Incredibly affectionate, gentle, and very funny.
Medical: Madge does have arthritis and a slightly compressed disc 3/4 down her spine. No medication is recommended by the vet at this time. Careful management should be followed by not allowing her to jump on/off furniture and keeping exercise appropriate for her age.
