Rocky
Rocky is a very striking little dog who looks like a panther met a chihuahua. He has a jet black coat with amber eyes in a tiny little 10lb body.
Rocky was picked up in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas by an incredible street feeder who saw a pack of dogs covered in engorged ticks. The finder was able to trap all 7 dogs and get them to safety.
At just about 1 year old, Rocky is still a young little pup who is figuring out that the world isn't an overwhelming place. But, when he is with his people, he loves hard. He is a velcro pup who loves to snuggle and be by your feet while you work (or, preferably, your lap). He can be unsure and nervous in new situations, but at home, he is a silly, loving, happy go-lucky pup.
Rocky is currently fostered with 2 large dogs and 4 cats and does great with all of them. He really enjoys playing with his dog siblings and has shown that he can big one of the big guys! He is mostly indifferent to the cats in home, but sometimes enjoys following them around. Rocky would do best in a home with one other confident pup who can show him the ropes.
He has learned to love going on walks, enjoys car rides, and will even hop in a stroller. He loves chasing the ball outside. But most of all, he wants to curl up in your lap.
Medical: Because Rocky was absolutely covered in ticks when we got him, we were not surprised to see that Rocky is anemic. Since he is young and otherwise healthy, we expect him to generate new blood cells and get himself out of the anemia zone. We will be doing follow up bloodwork at the end of June.
Rocky is:
1 year old
9lbs
Low to medium energy
Loves his people - nervous about new people, so it's best to take it slow. Because of this, we would recommend a home without young kids.
Great with dogs
Good with cats
Potty trained
He sleeps in his crate in his foster home but does bark/howl in a new place until he gets used to the routine
*PLEASE NOTE: all of our dogs are fostered in Houston, TX, where our rescue is based. However, we work with trusted transport partners to transport our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Additionally, adopters are always encouraged to come to Houston to pick up the pup and bring them home.
