Ruby

Ruby is a gentle, playful, and deeply loving companion. At just 2 years old and 25lbs, this sweet little beagle/chi/husky (maybe??) mix is as sweet as can be.

She’s a medium-energy girl who is incredibly adaptable—happy to go on long, sniff-filled walks or curl up and relax with her people (and her dog BFF, of course!).

Ruby can be a bit shy and cautious when meeting new people or experiencing new environments, but give her a little time and patience, and you’ll see her soft, loving personality shine through. Once she feels safe, she is affectionate, playful, and oh-so gentle. Truly, she has one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet.

The highlights? She’s basically a perfect angel:

Great with kids, dogs, and even cats (though she may try to recruit them into playtime!)

Fully house-trained and crate-trained (she sleeps quietly through the night without a peep!)

No separation anxiety—she settles calmly when left alone

Rides like a dream in the car

Loves playtime and exploring the world through her nose

Ruby absolutely adores other dogs and truly thrives with a canine companion. Her current dog friend is her safe place—she’ll follow her around, look for her if she’s out of sight, and would happily cuddle up as close as physically possible. Because of this, Ruby will need a home with another friendly dog who matches her playful energy.

She’s still working on her leash manners and can be a little reactive to dogs and squirrels, but she’s incredibly smart and eager to learn—she’s already made great progress and will continue to improve with consistent training.

Another playful, friendly dog (non-negotiable—she needs her bestie!)
A secure yard with a high fence (this girl has hops!)
An adopter willing to continue her leash training
A patient, loving home that will let her warm up at her own pace

PLEASE NOTE: all of our dogs are fostered in Houston, TX, where our rescue is based. Once an adopter is confirmed, we work with our trusted transport partners and adopters to find a time and pickup place that works for everyone!
