Wellington

Wellington is a 15 year old, 9lb, mini poodle who just oozes charm. He is a young 15 years who still enjoys a leisurely stroll, does the cuuuutest little tippy tappies when he sees you grab the leash, and enjoys curling up in his cozy bed next to you.

Wellington is wonderfully easygoing with people. He is happy to greet new people, not overly excited but not shy either. He has been gentle and tolerant with respectful older children and is largely indifferent to other dogs and even cats. He truly embodies a peaceful, “go-with-the-flow” personality that makes him an incredible little companion.

He is potty-trained, does well in his crate, and thrives on a consistent routine. He sleeps soundly through the night in his dog bed and enjoys several short walks throughout the day. Because he is blind in one eye and has limited vision in the other, he appreciates a safe, familiar environment and is crated when left alone to keep him comfortable and secure. He settles easily and is not destructive — he simply wants a cozy place to rest until you return.

Wellington does have a 6/6 heart murmur and takes medication (Vetmedin) twice daily. Additionally, he could greatly benefit from a dental, but given his heart condition, it is too risky. Therefore, the vet has recommended pulsing oral antibiotics to keep any infections at bay. His ideal adopter will be committed to continuing his care and giving him the gentle lifestyle he deserves. In return, he offers endless quiet companionship, soft snuggles, and the calming presence only a senior dog can provide.

Despite his age, Wellington still has little sparks of playful spirit — occasionally launching himself toward the couch like a tiny cotton ball in flight. Sometimes he sticks the landing, sometimes he doesn’t — but his determination and sweetness make him all the more lovable.

Wellington would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can enjoy soft beds, gentle walks, and a predictable routine. He would be perfectly happy in an apartment or house, with a person or family who appreciates the special magic of a senior dog.

Very low energy but still enjoys a little walk around the neighborhood
Lovely with people

Medical: Wellington has a 6/6 heart murmur which requires medication for management. He also has dental disease, but given his heart condition, it would be unsafe to undergo a dental. So, he is on antibiotics that should be given every few months to keep infection at bay.
